Compounding

Pharmaceutical compounding is the science of preparing custom medications to fit the unique needs of a patient.

Because no two patients are the same, commercial medications may not meet the needs of a particular patient. Compounding allows your physician to customize medications for each patient. Compounded topical pain relievers benefit the patient by allowing them to apply the cream directly to the affected area, targeting only the painful area instead of taking oral medications that fill the entire body with medication. There are fewer side effects with topical creams since the dose is much lower.

Please expect to receive a call, to the contact number you provided, from Surecare Specialty Pharmacy within 1 business day of your prescription being prescribed by your physician. If you have not received a phone call within this time period please contact Surecare Specialty Pharmacy at 1-855-532-2400. Since your medication is made custom for you, please allow 1 to 2 business days for processing.

We will bill each patient’s insurance to determine coverage and discuss the coverage with individually. Although most insurance companies cover compounds, there may be some that are not covered.  In the event that insurance does not cover, the patient will be contacted with other options.

Do not apply the cream to an open wound or to a healing incision. Apply around the incision but not directly on the incision. It is safe to apply topical pain relievers once the stitches have been removed.

Side effects are uncommon. A rash could develop if the patient has very sensitive skin or an allergy to one of the drugs in the compounded cream. Be sure to tell us if you have any drug allergies. Contact us or your physician if you experience any side effects.

We do not recommend these medications for expecting mothers. These topical pain relievers are for adult usage only.

NO, DO NOT APPLY HEAT OVER THIS MEDICATION. Use heat first, remove the heat, and then apply the cream.
